Frequently Asked Questions.

How long are counselling sessions?

At Our Place Therapy we offer individual virtual counselling sessions that are 50 minutes or 75 minute duration.

What is the cost of an individual counselling session?

At Our Place Therapy The cost of a varies depending on the length of session you select. Our 50 minute session are $150 and our 75 minute session are $225.

If cost becomes a barrier to accessing services, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your counsellor. They will be happy to explore potential options with you, such as a sliding scale or other possibilities that may help make counselling more accessible.

What is the cancellation policy at Our Place Therapy… and How do I cancel and reschedule and appointment through JANE?

We kindly ask for a minimum of 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This policy helps us offer that time to other clients who may be in need of support. If we receive less than 48 hours' notice, the full session fee will be charged, as the spot was reserved specifically for you and may be difficult to fill on short notice.

You can easily cancel or reschedule your appointment through Jane, the confirmation email you received when booking, or by contacting your service provider directly at victoria@ourplacetherapy.ca

We truly appreciate your understanding and support in helping us accommodate all clients who may need care.

Do you offer direct billing?

At Our Place Therapy, we do not offer direct billing. However, our counsellors are Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs), and most benefit/insurance plans provide coverage and reimbursement for RCC services. If you’re unsure whether your plan covers counselling with an RCC, we recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to confirm prior to booking a session.

What are the risks and benefits of counselling?

Risks:
Counselling often involves exploring challenging emotions, past experiences, or difficult topics, which can sometimes bring up feelings of discomfort, sadness, or heightened emotional responses. You may also be encouraged to try new ways of thinking or behaving, which can feel unfamiliar or unsettling at first. These reactions are a natural part of the healing process. Together, we’ll work to navigate and manage these emotions in a supportive, collaborative way.

Benefits:
The counselling process can lead to a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, greater emotional resilience, and a reduction in symptoms related to stress, anxiety, or other challenges. You may develop practical coping strategies to manage life’s pressures, improve communication, and build healthier, more fulfilling connections with others. Ultimately, counselling can support you in feeling more grounded, self-aware, and empowered in your life.

How frequent do I need to come to therapy in order to see results?

The frequency of counselling sessions varies based on your individual needs, goals, and circumstances. Some people find weekly sessions helpful, especially when starting counselling, as it provides consistency and momentum in the healing process. Others may shift to bi-weekly or monthly sessions as they begin to feel more stable or want time to integrate what they've learned.

Progress isn’t linear, and the pace can differ for everyone. Factors like the nature of your concerns, your readiness for change, and how much time you have to reflect and practice new skills outside of sessions all play a role.

During our work together, we’ll regularly check in to see what feels right for you and adjust the frequency to best support your growth and well-being.

Do I have to continue services after the free 15 minute consultation?
